As I was heading back home from an art exhibition, the Uber driver asked me if I was going to dinner later this evening. (He clearly overheard a phone convo I just had with Ola confirming our sushi meetup. He ain't slick.) But since I was in a jovial mood, I answered his question. Which led me telling him today was my birthday.
He offered his well wishes then shared with me this golden nugget: "Your new year actually begins today."
And you know what? He's absolutely right.

Why do I have to literally wait until Dec 31 to ring in the whole 'new year, new me'? Why can't I start my new year right NOW, on my birthday? It makes so much sense. And that's exactly what I'm going to do.
