Starting off the first weekend of 2019 catching up with friends (hey, Brea! what up, Dionna!) at The Alex Speakeasy was the right move.
While enjoying glasses of prosecco, a cheese and charcuterie board, and small plates, James, the new Director of Food & Beverage, excitedly told us of upcoming changes the craft cocktail cellar had in store.
First up: happy hour! DC does not play with their happy hours. We work hard...and we play harder in the nation's capital. And The Alex is taking notice. Starting this week, the happy hour is Monday-Friday from 5-7pm. Some of the deals include popular dishes at $10, $5 beer, $10 special cocktails, $10 wine (red and white), and shared plates starting at $7. Also, if you're affected by the federal shutdown, special deals will be available with shown government ID.
Next is brunch. Another food gathering DC takes very very seriously. I know folks who brunch every damn weekend. It's not a game. Once again, The Alex Speakeasy recognizes the game and what's to join in. Their brunch specials include $1 mimosas (!!!), revamped classic dishes, and kitschy drinks like About Last Night and After Yoga. Brunch is every weekend and on a Monday holiday (such as MLK Day) from 11am-3pm; last seating at 230pm.
