When our London host told us about WALALA X PLAY, my sister and I was gung-ho on checking it out. This exhibit was right up our alley: a fun and interactive art installation.
We were warned that tickets may not be available due to its popularity. I mean, I'm used to this considering how us folks in DC do not play when it comes to popular exhibitions (see: Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors and WONDER, to name a few). We took our chances and headed out to the NOW Gallery.
Luck was on our side because we were greeted with no lines. We walked in, got our tickets, was told we only had 15 minutes to view the entire exhibition...and to take off our shoes. Alrighty, then.
Camille Walala, a digital print designer, was selected as NOW Gallery's 2017 Design Collaborator. And WALALA X PLAY was born. It's a three-dimensional maze with large abstract art. There's even a fun puzzle hidden inside the maze where you try to find inconsistencies between two supposed identical artwork. Honestly, I was so taken with the illusion mirrors, patterns, and colors of the maze that trying to solve the puzzle didn't even cross my mind.

As you can probably guess, 15 minutes to view such a cool layout was not enough. But still, it was an amazing experience.
The art installation will be on display until September 24th. If you're in London or visiting, check it out. Once done, just go around the corner for some drinks at the Greenwich Kitchen, like we did. Perfect summer afternoon outing.
