Event: The Urban Marketplace (TUM)
Where: Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza
Summary: My friend, Cee, invited me to this public event that was taking place in Silver Spring, MD. This was their Premiere Showcase Edition that featured select wedding and lifestyle vendors. From jewelry to make-up sessions to natural beauty products to wedding/party planners, etc. It had a little bit of everything. There were live performances. The crowd enjoyed a couple of fashion shows featuring work by a few of the fashion designers that were selling their items. While sipping on complimentary drinks and munching on tasty hors d'oeuves, we went from vendor to vendor gawking at their collection. Of course, I had to buy a thing or two (actually, three in total). Finally at the end of the event, they had a raffle drawing to win a brand spanking new iPad 2. I didn't win. womp, womp. But I did leave with a swag bag. Well, pretty much everyone did. But still, I felt slightly special. Being as this was their first event, I was very much impressed. I had a great time shopping, bumping into familiar faces and meeting new faces. Speaking of new faces, I met Banky W. briefly. He's a hugely popular, successful, award-winning Nigerian-American R&B artist. A real nice guy. Anywho, if a second one is planned in the near future, I will be there front and center. And I'll do a post on my blog beforehand so all the lovely DC area readers can come along and see it for themselves.
